The latest Fanboys suffers from Cliff Syndrome, where the background doesn't extend far enough to convey a sense of depth, instead looking like it takes place on the edge of a cliff.

A great example of Cliff Syndrome can be found in the now-defunct webcomic "The Green Avenger":



If you took that same panel and viewed it from the direct side, it would look like this (w/ simulated camera):



So how do you fix it? Just add some deeper background elements so you don't see the sky touch the ground.

For a minimalistic alternative, observe Homestar Runner. Any shot of The Field generally has a row of bushes between the ground and the sky. Sometimes, the simple tricks work wonders.
